NSU (BD) family mourns the death of trust member Shaista Ahmad

Mrs. Shaista Ahmad, the founding general member of the Board of Trustees of North South University, passed away on November 20, 2022 (Innalillahe wa Inna Ilaihe Rajiun). Mrs. Shaista Ahmad worked as Professor of Zoology in some reputed colleges of Bangladesh including Dhaka College, Eden Girls College, Holy Cross College and Titumir College. She retired from Titumir College. And she was a Bangladeshi diplomat and wife of the founder and the first Vice-Chancellor of NSU Professor Musleh Uddin Ahmad. 

The NSU Board of Trustees and members of NSU family are deeply saddened by her death. The university authorities expressed deep condolences in a press release terming her death as an irreparable loss to the NSU family.  

During Bangladesh's Liberation War, Mrs. Shaista was instrumental in helping her husband Professor Musleh Uddin Ahmad open and run Bangladesh's first embassy in France for nine months in their apartment. Ms. Shaista played an equally important role with Mr. Muslehuddin in establishing North South University.   

She was a devoted mother who had received the prestigious Ratnagarbha Award. She left behind 3 children and 7 grandchildren at the time of her death. The sons are: Dr. Junaid Kamal Ahmad, Member, Board of Trustees, NSU and Vice President, World Bank; Mr. Javed Munir Ahmad, Member, Board of Trustees, NSU and CEO, Approsoft INC; Miz Sheema Ahmad, Member, Board of Trustees, NSU and US based writer and political organizer.   

She was born in Mednipur, West Bengal and was part of the historic migration during Partition. 

North South University prays to Almighty Allah for the repose of the soul of the deceased and for the bereaved family members to bear this loss.
