The impact of Covid-19 on the CMSE sector in Bangladesh

Dhaka: The speakers in a seminar of Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) said that there is a significant impact of Covid-19 on the CMSE sector in Bangladesh.

On Tuesday (November 22, 2022), BIBM conducted a seminar on 'Impact of Covid-19 on CMSE Sector in Bangladesh' through Zoom app. Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor and BIBM Executive Committee Chairman Mr. Ahmed Jamal was present as the chief guest.

BIBM Associate Professor and Director (Research, Development and Consultancy) Dr. Ashraf Al Mamun. Director General of BIBM presided over. Md. Akhtaruzzaman.

BIBM Associate Professor Dr. presented the research report in the seminar. Md. Mosharref Hossain. The research team includes, among others, BIBM Associate Professor and Director (Research, Development and Consultancy) Dr. Ashraf Al Mamun; Maqsuda Khatun, Assistant Professor, BIBM; Bangladesh Bank Additional Director (SMESPD) Mr. Sharfat Ullah; Mr. Suman Chandra Saha, Deputy General Manager of SME Foundation and Mr. Anwar Farooq Talukder, Senior Executive Vice President of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited. 

Dr. BIBM spoke as an honorable speaker in the event. Mozaffar Ahmad chair professor and former professor of economics department of Dhaka University. Blessings be upon God; BIBM Supernumerary Professor Md. Ali Hossain Pradhaniya; Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mutual Trust Bank Limited Mr. Syed Mahbubur Rahman.

Senior bankers, academicians, researchers, faculty of BIBM participated in the virtual seminar.

It is known that ADB will give a loan of 1 thousand 290 crores to the CMSE sector. Bangladesh Bank will distribute this loan among 30 thousand CMSE entrepreneurs in the country.
