SHANGHAI, China – April 29, 2025:

Auto Shanghai 2025 has become a global showcase of electric and smart vehicle innovation, with nearly 1,000 top-tier companies from 26 countries and regions presenting their latest models. The event, the largest in the exhibition's history, highlights the accelerating transformation of the automotive industry toward electric and AI-integrated vehicles.
Among the standouts is domestic auto giant SAIC, which launched its new model "Shangjie", co-developed with tech powerhouse Huawei. The vehicle features Huawei’s cutting-edge smart driving systems, marking a significant leap in intelligent mobility.
Chinese NEV (New Energy Vehicle) startups Nio, XPeng, and Li Auto are also making strong impressions. Nio’s sub-brand ONVO unveiled its L60 flagship SUV, targeting the growing all-electric SUV market in China.
International automakers are making bold moves as well. Audi premiered the E5 Sportback, its first production model under a new EV sub-brand, developed with SAIC Audi specifically for the Chinese market. BMW and Mercedes-Benz also introduced all-electric models as part of their regional strategies.
Volkswagen showcased five newly developed models featuring its proprietary assisted driving systems, underscoring the growing emphasis on in-house innovation tailored for local consumers.
To support the booming automotive market, the Shanghai municipal government has streamlined customs processes for imported consumer goods and introduced initiatives to boost domestic car consumption, aligning with the city’s broader “debut economy” strategy.
Auto Shanghai 2025 reflects the rapid evolution of the global automotive landscape, with China continuing to lead in electric vehicle adoption, smart technologies, and cross-industry innovation.
