In a significant development for Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Joynal Abedin met with One Pill Park, Executive Consultant of South Korean technology company EGIS, on Sunday, April 13, 2025. The meeting, held at the Vice-Chancellor's office, centered on exploring potential collaboration between DUET and EGIS in cutting-edge technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The meeting was attended by several senior DUET officials, including Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Arefin Kawsar, Planning and Development Director Professor Dr. Md. Shawkat Osman, and other department heads, including Professor Dr. Rafiqul Islam (Department of Computer Science and Engineering), Professor Dr. Fazlul Hasan Siddiqui (ICT Cell), and Professor Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam (Institute of Information and Communication Technology), among others.

Professor Dr. Joynal Abedin highlighted the university’s ongoing initiatives aimed at transforming DUET into a world-class hub for technological innovation. He emphasized the development of state-of-the-art laboratories, the enhancement of research capabilities, and DUET’s commitment to fostering international partnerships for academic and research excellence. "We are working diligently to elevate DUET as a leading technology university. Our focus is on collaboration with prestigious universities and research institutions globally," he stated.

One Pill Park responded positively, expressing EGIS's keen interest in establishing joint projects and providing practical solutions in several advanced technology fields. Park presented a comprehensive proposal to set up modern labs at DUET, along with training and scholarship opportunities for students. He also discussed plans for post-training employment pathways and the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize the collaboration.

“EGIS is excited about the prospect of working with DUET, especially in emerging areas like AI and IoT,” Park said. “Our goal is to bring real-world tech innovations to Bangladesh and support DUET’s mission to enhance its educational infrastructure.”

The Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude for EGIS’s interest and underscored the importance of such collaborations for advancing DUET’s mission. He also emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure the success of these initiatives.

This meeting marks the beginning of a promising partnership between DUET and EGIS, one that could potentially reshape Bangladesh’s higher education and research landscape by incorporating the latest technological advancements and fostering global collaborations.
