TORONTO, Canada — May 16, 2025:

Eric Trump made headlines at Consensus 2025 in Toronto by announcing his latest venture, American Bitcoin, in partnership with Hut 8 co-founder Asher Genoot. In a packed session, the duo outlined an aggressive vision to dominate bitcoin mining in the U.S. using some of the lowest energy costs globally.

"I truly believe in digital gold—bitcoin—as a store of value," Trump said. "If we can mine it at a third of the current price using American energy, that’s an unbeatable formula for success."

The announcement marked one of the most talked-about moments at this year’s Consensus conference, which has attracted industry giants like Kevin O’Leary, Adrienne A. Harris, Dave Portnoy, and U.S. digital asset advisor Robert Hines. This year marks the first time the event is being held in Toronto, with future editions already planned for Hong Kong and Miami in 2026.

Trump revealed that his interest in digital assets stemmed from political motivations, noting how attacks on his family from certain groups overlapped with regulatory scrutiny of crypto. “That pushed two unlikely communities—conservatives and crypto—closer together,” he said.

He added that American Bitcoin aims to accumulate substantial bitcoin reserves while maintaining the industry’s lowest operational costs. “We’re not just going to mine—we’re going to mine smarter, cheaper, and bigger,” Trump declared.

He is scheduled to return to the stage on May 16 at 1:30 p.m. EDT to share his perspectives on stablecoins and the future role of tokenized assets in the global financial system.
