Florida Southern College marked a historic milestone on May 21 with the grand opening of its new 4,000-square-foot golf clubhouse at Lone Palm Golf Club in Lakeland, Florida. The state-of-the-art facility was unveiled in a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by student-athletes, alumni, donors, community leaders, and honored guests, highlighting a new era for the college’s storied men’s and women’s golf programs.

The clubhouse, developed to serve as a central hub for training, performance, and celebration, features some of the most advanced technology and amenities in collegiate golf. Upon entering the Championship Lobby, visitors are greeted by a tribute wall recognizing Florida Southern’s 33 combined national titles—an enduring testament to its NCAA Division II dominance. The facility also includes offices for coaching staff, two TrackMan simulators, a PuttView putting studio, a fitness and rehabilitation zone, a modern student-athlete lounge, and a multifunctional meeting room.

Drew Howard, Director of Athletics and Dean of Wellness, expressed his enthusiasm during the event, emphasizing the college’s continued commitment to athletic excellence. “We’re incredibly excited to open this stunning new clubhouse,” Howard stated. “Florida Southern golf has a proud tradition of competitive excellence and a longstanding partnership with Lone Palm Golf Club. This new space not only honors that legacy—it secures it for the future.”

Integral to the design are locker rooms named in honor of two major figures in the college’s golf history: women’s head coach Robbie Davis and former men’s coach Doug Gordin. Both are celebrated for their mentorship, leadership, and the national success they cultivated within the program.

Howard credited alumni and donors for their generous contributions that made the project possible. “Thanks to the generous support of our alumni and donors, we've built something that will elevate our programs and help us attract the very best student-athletes to Florida Southern College,” he added.

The opening of this next-generation facility ensures Florida Southern’s golf teams are equipped with the tools to compete—and win—on the national stage for years to come. With cutting-edge technology, professional-grade amenities, and a legacy of athletic achievement, the clubhouse stands as a beacon for future champions.

Founded in 1883, Florida Southern College is the state’s oldest private college and a leader in engaged learning. With more than 70 undergraduate majors and nationally recognized graduate programs, the college also boasts 30 NCAA Division II National Championships. The new golf clubhouse is a continuation of Florida Southern's vision: combining academic and athletic excellence to shape the leaders of tomorrow.
