Paris, France — May 24, 2025:
G42, a global technology powerhouse based in Abu Dhabi, and Mistral AI, a Paris-headquartered leader in artificial intelligence, have announced a landmark partnership to jointly develop next-generation AI platforms and infrastructure. The collaboration, revealed at the "Choose France" summit, represents a pivotal move in advancing open and interoperable artificial intelligence on a global scale.
This strategic alliance aligns with the AI cooperation agreement endorsed earlier this year by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and French President Emmanuel Macron. The initiative reflects both countries’ shared vision of democratizing access to AI while reinforcing sovereignty, innovation, and economic growth across their respective regions and beyond.
Drawing on the long-standing economic and cultural ties between the UAE and France, the partnership seeks to integrate the advanced capabilities of G42's AI portfolio—including Core42 for infrastructure and Inception for AI platforms—with Mistral AI’s expertise in open-source large language models and frontier research. Together, they aim to deliver solutions that are not only technically robust but also globally accessible, adaptable, and secure.
“This partnership exemplifies a new way of developing AI that balances sovereignty with interoperability, and ambition with responsibility,” said Peng Xiao, CEO of G42 Group. “Together with Mistral AI, we are not just creating technology, but laying the foundation for a digitally interconnected future where trust and transparency are a given.”
The scope of the collaboration spans the entire AI value chain—from model training and infrastructure development to AI agents and industry-specific applications. These innovations will be deployed across Europe, the Middle East, and countries in the Global South, emphasizing inclusive access to advanced technologies in underrepresented regions.
Mistral AI’s platform will be integrated with G42’s AI technology stack, built with a focus on maintaining technical autonomy and safeguarding intellectual property. This structure ensures that innovation can flourish while still allowing for global scalability and responsible deployment. Both companies will also jointly explore international market expansion, presenting a united front to deliver AI excellence worldwide.
Arthur Mensch, CEO and co-founder of Mistral AI, echoed this sentiment. “G42 is a partner who shares our commitment to making powerful and open AI accessible to all. This partnership not only accelerates our journey but also ensures that the benefits of AI extend beyond traditional technology hubs.”
As part of the agreement, Mistral AI will explore academic and research collaboration with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) in Abu Dhabi—the world’s first dedicated AI university. This partnership will emphasize fundamental research in advanced AI models, talent development, and real-world application of cutting-edge innovations.
Eric Xing, president of MBZUAI, welcomed the opportunity, stating, “We look forward to working with Mistral AI and G42 to advance AI technology in the areas of next-generation core models, energy efficiency, and security. Our shared values of fostering innovation, collaboration, accessibility, and inclusion make us ideally suited to support advancements in AI for the benefit of all.”
This initiative comes at a critical juncture for global AI development. As more governments and organizations seek trustworthy alternatives to proprietary AI ecosystems, this partnership showcases a scalable, transparent, and inclusive path forward. It highlights a growing movement toward AI that is not only open-source and interoperable but also aligned with national priorities and local capabilities.
The G42-Mistral AI alliance stands as a flagship model of bilateral cooperation in the age of artificial intelligence—demonstrating that meaningful progress in emerging technologies can be driven by shared vision, mutual respect, and a commitment to responsible innovation.
With this announcement, G42 and Mistral AI are poised to set new benchmarks in global AI infrastructure and platform development, underscoring their role as key architects of the digital future.
