SHARJAH, UAE — May 29, 2025:
An eye-catching, gold-plated 2014 Nissan GT-R valued at nearly Dh3.67 million ($1 million) stole the limelight at the 55th Watch & Jewellery Middle East Show on Thursday at Expo Centre Sharjah, reads a Gulf News post.
Nicknamed “Gold-Zilla,” the GT-R is fully clad in 24K gold with intricate hand-engraved detailing. Designed by Japan’s Kuhl Racing in collaboration with acclaimed Japanese artist Takahiko Izawa, the showpiece vehicle took over 2,000 hours to craft, blending precision automotive engineering with traditional Japanese artistry.
The supercar is one of the key highlights at this year’s prestigious exhibition, which features more than 500 exhibitors from around the world. The event showcases a glittering array of rare gemstones, signature gold collections, high-end watches, and innovative jewellery designs.
A major attraction is the Italian pavilion, occupying 708 square meters and hosting close to 50 of Italy’s most prestigious jewellery brands and designers. From classic European craftsmanship to modern luxury aesthetics, the pavilion features hundreds of meticulously curated items, including diamond creations and culturally inspired gold pieces that reflect Italy’s deep artistic heritage.
Visitors can explore the exhibition from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Friday, and 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM over the weekend.
The 2025 edition features participation from a wide geographical spread—including the UAE, India, Italy, the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, China, Japan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Lebanon. Making their debut appearances are Russia, Mexico, Tanzania, and Egypt, signaling the event's growing global relevance.
This year’s show not only celebrates craftsmanship and luxury but also underscores how technology and artistry intersect—with the gold GT-R serving as a symbol of this convergence. The Sharjah event continues through June 1, offering an unforgettable experience at the crossroads of jewellery, innovation, and world-class design.
