Armonk, New York, USA — May 6, 2025:

In a bold move to reshape the future of enterprise AI, IBM and Oracle have announced a major expansion of their strategic partnership, aimed at delivering advanced agentic AI and hybrid cloud solutions via Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This milestone integrates IBM’s watsonx AI suite—including its orchestrate agents and Granite AI models—directly into Oracle’s robust cloud ecosystem, ushering in a new era of intelligent automation and cross-platform AI integration.

Set to launch in July, IBM’s watsonx Orchestrate will be made available on OCI to support multi-agent workflows spanning Oracle and non-Oracle systems. These AI agents will automate complex business tasks by interacting across various enterprise applications and data sources, enabling greater efficiency and intelligent decision-making.

“AI delivers the most impactful value when it works seamlessly across an entire business,” said Greg Pavlik, EVP of AI and Data Management Services at Oracle. “This expanded partnership offers customers powerful tools to transform their operations with AI.”

The initiative complements Oracle’s own AI capabilities, including the Oracle AI Agent Studio and OCI Generative AI services, by enabling watsonx agents to run on Red Hat OpenShift within OCI’s public, sovereign, and government cloud regions. This ensures compliance with regulatory requirements while allowing hybrid and multicloud deployments for added flexibility.

In a parallel development, Oracle will integrate IBM’s Granite family of AI models into OCI Data Science via AI Quick Actions later this year. The Granite models—designed for efficient, task-specific performance—will be accessible as cached LLMs, broadening the range of AI options available to developers and enterprises within Oracle’s cloud infrastructure.

IBM also plans to release the Envizi ESG Suite on OCI, starting in Saudi Arabia within the next 12 months. Envizi automates the capture and reporting of ESG data, enabling enterprises to meet sustainability goals with data-driven insights.

Furthermore, watsonx.ai, IBM’s enterprise-grade AI development studio, is now certified to run on OCI, giving clients a seamless way to build, scale, and manage AI applications within Oracle’s ecosystem using OpenShift-powered infrastructure.

To help organizations orchestrate and scale these AI capabilities, IBM Consulting is introducing a new suite of services focused on AI agents, hybrid cloud strategy, and infrastructure modernization. These offerings include workload migration from on-premises systems to OpenShift Virtualization on OCI, integration of AI agents into core business processes like HR and supply chain, and workforce transformation strategies.

“By integrating our AI with Oracle’s offerings, we're enabling businesses to manage AI agents across their entire enterprise,” said Kareem Yusuf, Ph.D., SVP of Ecosystem and Strategic Partnerships at IBM. “This collaboration illustrates our commitment to giving clients flexible, enterprise-ready AI solutions.”

As part of the collaboration, IBM and Oracle will also pilot joint go-to-market efforts in select regions to accelerate customer adoption.

Industry analysts note that agentic AI is rapidly emerging as a transformative technology. “Today’s most advanced agents are capable of coordinating across diverse systems,” said Ritu Jyoti, General Manager at IDC. “The IBM-Oracle approach is a leading example of how agentic AI workflows can streamline operations and unlock innovation.”

This strengthened partnership not only reaffirms IBM and Oracle’s 38-year alliance but also positions them at the forefront of enterprise AI, empowering global businesses to optimize operations, increase agility, and drive sustainable growth through intelligent cloud-based solutions.
