ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — May 10, 2025:
A sweeping cyberattack has reportedly compromised multiple high-profile Indian government and defense-related websites, including those of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Border Security Force (BSF), according to Pakistan’s state-run broadcaster PTV News.
The report alleges the hacks are part of a "counter cyber operation" launched by Pakistan in response to recent escalations. Among the affected domains are the Crime Research Investigation Agency, Mahanagar Telecommunication Company Limited (MTCL), Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), the All India Naval Technical Supervisory Staff Association, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
PTV News also claimed that sensitive data has been leaked from platforms associated with the Indian Air Force and the Maharashtra Election Commission, suggesting a broader breach of national cybersecurity protocols.
In addition, over 2,500 surveillance cameras across India were reportedly hijacked and compromised, raising serious concerns over the country’s digital infrastructure and public security systems.
As of now, Indian authorities have not officially confirmed or responded to the hacking allegations. The incident comes amid rising regional tensions and could potentially escalate cyber warfare activities between the two neighboring countries.
Cybersecurity experts warn that such breaches, if verified, could mark one of the largest state-sponsored cyber intrusions in South Asia to date.
