BERLIN, Germany — May 2, 2025:
Meta has officially transitioned its microblogging platform Threads from Threads.net to Threads.com, marking a shift in branding alongside several key updates aimed at improving the user experience on desktop browsers.
The redesign introduces a layout that mirrors the mobile app, placing personal feeds at the top in a more intuitive, chronological display. Users now have easier access to their liked and saved posts, which are located in the main navigation menu.
Another major enhancement is the customizable right-hand sidebar. This new feature allows users to add and arrange content columns—such as specific feeds, frequent searches, or favorite profiles—using simple drag-and-drop tools for a tailored interface.
Meta also adds functionality to streamline content sharing. Users can now copy any shared post as an image, eliminating the need to take screenshots. Additionally, a floating composer window, accessible via a “+” icon at the bottom-right, remains active while scrolling, making it easier to draft and post without losing your place in the feed.
With these updates, Threads strengthens its position as a serious alternative to X (formerly Twitter), alongside decentralized platforms like Bluesky and Mastodon. Unlike X, these platforms support limited interoperability, allowing certain content or account links across services.
