ABU DHABI, UAE — May 24, 2025:

The coalition of industry giants—G42, OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, Cisco, and SoftBank Group—has launched Stargate UAE, an advanced AI infrastructure hub to be housed at the UAE–US AI Campus in Abu Dhabi. The announcement marks a groundbreaking step toward large-scale, secure, and sovereign AI capability, delivered through a next-generation compute cluster operating at a scale of 1 gigawatt.

Built by G42 and operated jointly by OpenAI and Oracle, Stargate UAE forms the centerpiece of a broader 5-gigawatt UAE–US AI Campus that spans 10 square miles. It will provide critical infrastructure for AI innovation powered by a blend of nuclear, solar, and natural gas energy. The first 200-megawatt segment is scheduled to be operational in 2026, setting the stage for an expansive rollout of AI-driven solutions across various sectors including healthcare, finance, transportation, and energy.

The facility will deploy NVIDIA’s latest Grace Blackwell GB300 systems and leverage Cisco’s zero-trust security architecture and AI-optimized networking. SoftBank Group adds strategic investment and global partnership depth. Together, the partners are laying the foundation for scalable, secure, and globally responsible AI advancement.

The Stargate UAE initiative also reinforces the newly signed US–UAE AI Acceleration Partnership, unveiled last week during a high-profile announcement attended by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and U.S. President Donald J. Trump. This partnership focuses on deepening bilateral cooperation in AI, strengthening technological sovereignty, and creating reciprocal investment opportunities in digital infrastructure on both sides of the Atlantic—including the proposed Stargate US project.

Group CEO of G42, Peng Xiao, emphasized the transformative nature of the project: “The launch of Stargate UAE is a vital step in the UAE–US AI partnership. We’re building a bridge founded on trust and ambition to ensure that the world benefits from responsible and innovative AI.”

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman hailed the project as the first milestone under its “OpenAI for Countries” initiative, a global effort to build trusted AI infrastructure with key allies. “With Stargate UAE, we are making the world’s most transformative technology more accessible and equitable,” he said.

Oracle’s Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison added that Stargate “connects Oracle’s AI-optimized cloud to a nation’s core,” enabling governments and enterprises to harness AI with full data sovereignty. NVIDIA founder Jensen Huang called the effort a “testament to the UAE’s bold vision,” while SoftBank’s Masayoshi Son noted it represents “an engine for the next information revolution.” Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins emphasized the importance of secure, energy-efficient, and intelligent networks to amplify AI’s impact worldwide.

The AI Campus in Abu Dhabi is not just a data hub but a research and development ecosystem. It will include a science park aimed at nurturing talent, fostering innovation, and supporting sustainable computing. The facility is also designed to be carbon-conscious, with integrated renewable and clean energy sources.

As AI reshapes industries and redefines the limits of human capability, Stargate UAE positions the Middle East as a critical node in the global technology landscape. It reflects a shared vision of inclusive growth, responsible innovation, and strategic digital investment across borders.
