A global Lyssna study finds AI now rivals human collaboration in user research analysis, with 55% of professionals using AI tools for speed and pattern detection.

A global shift in user research is underway as artificial intelligence tools are rapidly reshaping how professionals analyze and interpret data. According to a newly released report from Lyssna, From Chaos to Clarity: How Teams Synthesize Research in 2025, 54.7% of research professionals now use AI-assisted tools—nearly matching the 55.0% who continue to rely on traditional team collaboration methods.
The comprehensive study, based on responses from 300 global participants including designers, researchers, product managers, and marketers, reveals that AI has become a standard component of research workflows. Among AI users, 82.9% rely on the technology to generate summaries of user feedback, while 61.0% use it to identify recurring patterns within datasets.
“AI is transforming the way research teams work,” said Mateja Milosavljevic, CEO of Lyssna. “It takes care of the heavy lifting—summarizing, detecting trends—so that human minds can focus on connecting ideas and shaping strategy.”
Despite AI’s growing role, human insight remains irreplaceable. Only 47.6% of AI users trust the technology to deliver actionable recommendations, indicating a strong preference for human oversight in decision-making. In contrast, AI’s strengths lie in expediting initial data synthesis, not in interpreting the deeper meaning or aligning insights with business goals.
The report also underscores the demand for speed in the research process. Nearly two-thirds (65.3%) of synthesis work is completed within one to five days. Yet manual processes remain a major pain point—60.3% of respondents identified time-consuming analysis as their top frustration.
Importantly, the democratization of research is accelerating. Analysis tasks are no longer limited to research specialists; designers, marketers, and product leads are increasingly engaging with user data directly. Confidence in the current synthesis process is high, with 97% of respondents reporting at least moderate trust in their methods.
With over 320,000 users and access to a global participant pool exceeding 690,000 individuals across 124 countries, Lyssna is positioned at the forefront of the AI-powered research revolution. Still, the report makes one thing clear: while AI enhances efficiency, human collaboration remains the cornerstone of insight-driven decision-making.
