Hong Kong, China – June 23, 2025:

Blockchain Alliance International (BAI), a New York-based non-profit in special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), has officially launched its Asia-Pacific Digital Economy Initiative in Hong Kong. The two-day high-level event, taking place June 23–24, 2025, aims to drive inclusive and sustainable digital innovation across the Asia-Pacific region.

The forum directly responds to global mandates set during the 2024 UN Summit of the Future, which adopted the Pact for the Future, Global Digital Compact, and Declaration on Future Generations. These frameworks call for human-centered digital transformation that benefits all societies, particularly developing nations.

Held in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China, the event features UN-style plenaries, breakout discussions, innovation showcases, and targeted investment dialogues. One of the highlights is the inauguration of BAI’s new Regional Office in Hong Kong, which will serve as a strategic hub for regional collaboration, digital capacity-building, and cross-border partnerships.

“Our mission is to bridge the digital divide through multi-stakeholder cooperation and ensure that digital progress leaves no one behind,” said Ambassador Alexandru Cujba, Executive President of BAI. “This new platform positions us to support innovation ecosystems that serve real human needs.”

Participants include government policymakers, tech industry leaders, academics, entrepreneurs, and international development actors. Discussions are centered on using technologies such as blockchain, AI, and Web3 to advance access to education, healthcare, financial inclusion, and climate resilience—particularly for youth, women, MSMEs, and underserved communities.

By anchoring its initiative in Hong Kong, BAI underscores the city’s role as a regional technology and finance nexus. The Asia-Pacific Digital Economy Initiative also reinforces BAI’s broader commitment to “technology for good,” aligning with global efforts to establish ethical, inclusive, and sustainable digital governance for the 21st century.
