DENVER, United States — June 14, 2025:

Colorado State University Global (CSU Global) celebrated a major milestone on Thursday, June 12, with more than 1,100 students graduating in its Spring 2025 Commencement. The event included both an in-person ceremony held in Denver, Colorado, and a virtual celebration, reflecting the university’s commitment to accessible education for students around the world.

The ceremony featured keynote speaker Michelle Lucero, a strategic advisor, motivational speaker, and former Chief Administrative Officer at Children’s Hospital. She was joined by graduating student Kaitlyn McCormick, who earned her B.S. in Management Information Systems and Business Analytics and delivered a powerful personal address.

McCormick, who was born deaf, overcame numerous challenges on her path to a degree. As a single mother working full-time, she shared her journey of resilience, emphasizing how CSU Global provided the flexible, supportive environment she needed. Now a team leader in her field, she continues her academic path by pursuing a master’s in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, aspiring to become a software engineer.

“I wasn’t sure I’d make it,” McCormick said. “But strength comes from refusing to quit when everything tells you to. What others may see as limits, I see as launchpads. With CSU Global’s support, I earned my degree and took the next step in my career.”

Many of the 2025 graduates are post-traditional learners — working adults, parents, first-generation college students, and military service members — who balance professional and personal responsibilities while advancing their education.

CSU Global President Dr. Becky Takeda-Tinker praised the graduates and the institution’s mission. “This commencement ceremony affirms CSU Global's commitment to providing career-connected education that transforms lives,” she said. “Our learners from Colorado and around the globe represent the best of what’s possible through high-quality online learning.”

Founded as the first 100% online, fully accredited public university in the U.S., CSU Global offers career-relevant bachelor’s and master’s degrees tailored for working professionals. With eight-week accelerated courses beginning every four weeks, CSU Global continues to lead in flexible, innovative, and accessible higher education.
