Spanish government officials visit Desay SV's smart factory in Linares, highlighting it as a key driver for Andalusia’s industrial revival and mobility innovation.
Linares, Spain — July 16, 2025:
A delegation from the Spanish government visited the Desay SV smart factory site in Linares, Andalusia this week, recognizing the project as a strategic pillar in Spain's reindustrialization and automotive innovation efforts.
The visits underscore the growing significance of the Chinese-owned Desay SV project, which is set to transform Linares into a key hub for smart mobility and high-tech manufacturing. The factory is expected to be completed by late 2025, with mass production of advanced automotive displays planned for 2026. By 2028, the facility aims to manufacture 1.5 million units annually, delivering state-of-the-art infotainment and driver assistance technologies to global markets.
On June 24, 2025, Juanma Moreno, President of the Andalusian Government, toured the facility at the Santana Science and Technology Park. He commended Desay SV for introducing the “most powerful” automotive touchscreens and emphasized the project’s role in reviving the local automotive industry following the closure of Santana Motor over a decade ago.
“This factory represents a turning point for Linares and Andalusia. It’s a sign of confidence in our industrial capacity and a model for regional regeneration,” said President Moreno. He also announced further support through regional incentives and administrative streamlining for companies operating in the park.
Just two days later, on June 26, Jordi Hereu, Spain’s Minister of Industry and Tourism, echoed the regional praise, calling the Desay SV initiative a “national strategic project.” The Spanish government has allocated €5.5 million in funding under the PERTE VEC III program, which supports sustainable mobility and industrial modernization.
“After years of European deindustrialization, this smart factory marks a new era,” said Minister Hereu. “It’s a testament to Spain’s collaboration with Chinese innovators and our joint ambition to lead in the global mobility space.”
Desay SV, a leading global supplier of in-vehicle electronics, views the Linares project as a cornerstone in its international localization strategy. As geopolitical uncertainty reshapes global supply chains, the company is accelerating its presence in regions like Europe, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
The Spanish smart factory reflects Desay SV’s commitment to delivering innovative, competitive products while fostering local employment and sustainable growth. The initiative is also seen as a model for successful cooperation between China and the EU in the emerging smart mobility sector.
The Linares facility continues to attract attention as a symbol of industrial revitalization and forward-looking manufacturing in southern Europe.
