Tech Desk — August 31, 2025:
YouTube has officially rolled out a new global feature called Hype, designed to elevate emerging content creators by increasing their visibility and engagement. Initially introduced at the Made on YouTube event last year, the feature is now live in 39 countries, including India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Indonesia.
The Hype feature allows viewers to support up to three of their favorite videos per week by clicking a dedicated Hype button located next to the Like button. Each hype awards points that contribute to a leaderboard ranking, which highlights popular videos from creators with fewer than 500,000 subscribers. These videos will display a Hype Badge, signaling their popularity among the platform’s community.
To further amplify visibility, users will have access to filters that allow them to browse only hyped content. Viewers who frequently engage with the feature will receive a special Hype Star badge, recognizing their role in supporting new creators.
YouTube's initiative is part of a broader effort to democratize content discovery and provide smaller creators with more opportunities to reach wider audiences and monetize their work. By offering these creators a new tool for promotion, YouTube aims to nurture grassroots talent and expand content diversity on the platform.
With its massive global user base and increasing focus on creator-centric tools, YouTube continues to position itself not just as a streaming platform but as a launchpad for digital careers.
