DHAKA, Bangladesh — September 21, 2025:

With the official launch of the upgraded BYD Atto 3, Bangladesh has taken a significant step toward embracing the global electric vehicle (EV) movement. Held on September 20 at BYD’s Flagship Showroom in Dhaka’s Tejgaon district, the event was more than just a car reveal—it was a clear indicator that Bangladesh is ready for the EV revolution.

BYD, the world’s leading New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, unveiled the latest version of its best-selling electric SUV in the presence of key industry figures and government stakeholders. The upgraded Atto 3 boasts fast-charging Blade Battery technology, extended driving ranges, and advanced safety systems, wrapped in a refreshed, sportier design that aligns with global EV trends.

Speaking at the event, Imtiaz Nawsher, Chief Marketing Officer of BYD Bangladesh, made a bold assertion:

"Bangladesh is ready for the EV revolution, and BYD is working with partners and policymakers to rapidly expand the national charging network."

That statement reflects a shift in mindset—not just within the automotive sector but across public and private spheres. For years, Bangladesh has lagged behind in EV adoption, hindered by policy uncertainty and infrastructure gaps. But with cleaner air, energy security, and reduced import dependency now pressing concerns, the conditions for rapid EV growth are aligning fast.

The new Atto 3 comes in two range variants: Standard Range: 345 km per full charge, priced at BDT 49.90 lakh; and extended Range: 420 km per full charge, priced at BDT 55.90 lakh.

Both versions include industry-first features like ventilated front seats, a high-efficiency 12V low-voltage LFP battery, and a Euro NCAP 5-star Safety Rating with 7 airbags and ADAS technology. A robust warranty package further boosts consumer confidence, offering 8 years or up to 160,000 km for the battery, and 6 years or 150,000 km for the full vehicle.

Yet it’s not just the specs that matter. What sets this launch apart is context. The Bangladeshi EV market is maturing, and demand is rising—particularly among environmentally conscious urban buyers. This trend is echoed in government circles, with ongoing policy efforts to incentivize EV imports, reduce tariffs, and develop localized battery assembly plants.

The growing infrastructure is also worth noting. BYD Bangladesh is actively investing in the national charging ecosystem, with several stations already in operation and more on the way. This addresses one of the most significant barriers to EV adoption in Bangladesh: range anxiety and charging availability.

Throughout the launch week (September 21–25), BYD is hosting ‘Atto 3 Week’, offering live demos and expert Q&A sessions at the showroom, reinforcing its commitment to not just selling EVs, but educating the market and building long-term trust.

While the price point still places the Atto 3 in a premium category, rising disposable incomes, fuel price volatility, and growing environmental awareness make it a compelling proposition for many.

Ultimately, BYD’s move is strategic and symbolic. It signals that Bangladesh is no longer on the sidelines of the electric mobility movement. With international manufacturers investing in local operations, and policy beginning to support green transport solutions, the EV revolution is no longer a distant dream.

It’s now a matter of acceleration.
