xLean Robotics unveils the world’s first dual-form AI cleaning robot at IFA 2025. The xLean TR1 combines advanced suction technology and self-evolving intelligence.
Berlin, Germany — September 2, 2025:
xLean Robotics, a pioneering startup from the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Robotics Institute, is set to make waves at IFA 2025 with the launch of its flagship product, the xLean TR1. This innovative dual-form transformable cleaning robot is being hailed as the world’s first AI-powered cleaning robot to offer both deep cleaning and spot cleaning capabilities in a single, versatile device.
The xLean TR1 combines cutting-edge AI and Dual-Motor DirectSuction technology to provide fast, efficient, and residue-free cleaning, even in the face of massive spills or solid-liquid mixtures. What sets the xLean TR1 apart is its unique dual-form design, allowing users to seamlessly transition between a robotic and handheld cleaning mode in just one second via an electric lock.
In robot form, the xLean TR1 effortlessly navigates tight spaces using multi-sensor fusion and Reinforcement Learning for autonomous movement and optimal cleaning efficiency. Its square body and 800 RPM dual-roller mop ensure complete coverage of corners and edges, a common struggle for traditional robotic cleaners.
When switched to handheld form, the TR1 offers bi-directional electric assistance for precise spot cleaning, learning from human behavior to adapt its cleaning techniques. Using RGB-D cameras, green laser sensors, and motor encoders, the robot captures data on how users clean and what their preferences are, processing this information through Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF). This allows the TR1 to clean with the same intent as its human user. With user consent, the robot uploads anonymized data to the cloud for continuous updates, enhancing its cleaning algorithms via Self-Evolving Intelligence.
The Dual-Motor DirectSuction mechanism is a breakthrough in cleaning technology. Unlike traditional vacuum-and-mop systems, this method utilizes high negative pressure to simultaneously draw in both solids and liquids, overcoming the challenge of cleaning complex messes like spills or solid-liquid mixtures. The robot’s VortexMatrix Separation Technology allows for effective gas-liquid separation, a solution refined over three years of fluid simulations and 40 prototype iterations.
The OMNI Station that complements the xLean TR1 adds further convenience with features such as solid-liquid waste disposal, a 60°C hot-water flush, and self-drying capabilities. The robot also prioritizes user safety with features like a privacy-first camera shutter and vision-LiDAR recognition to avoid obstacles and ensure safe operation.
Founded in 2022, xLean Robotics is made up of robotics PhDs, IEEE Fellows, and industry veterans from companies like DJI, Roborock, XREAL, and eufy. Kehan Xue, Founder and CEO, emphasized the company's mission: "We're building a new kind of cleaning robot with Self-Evolving Intelligence to solve messes others can’t — a step toward general-purpose robotics. Our focus is simple: one robot, one task, done right."
The xLean TR1 will be available for demonstration at Hall 25, Booth 260 during IFA 2025, and will be available for global pre-order through a Kickstarter campaign launching shortly after the event.
This debut represents a significant step forward in both the AI and robotics industries, highlighting the potential for self-learning technology in everyday applications. As the xLean TR1 demonstrates, the future of cleaning is not just about efficiency—it's about adapting to human needs and continuously improving.
