Auckland, New Zealand – October 10, 2025:

Faraday Factory Japan LLC, the world leader in superconducting tape manufacturing, and Zenno Astronautics, a New Zealand-based space technology company, have announced a new strategic collaboration to advance high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnets for space missions. This partnership combines Faraday Factory’s materials science expertise with Zenno's cutting-edge space technologies to create next-generation superconductors optimized for orbital applications.

Faraday Factory, drawing on over 30 years of experience in HTS development, will provide Zenno with its newly unveiled Mirai superconducting tape, which promises to deliver enhanced performance under space conditions. Zenno will integrate this advanced material into its sophisticated magnet coils, including those used in the revolutionary Z01 Supertorquer system, designed to improve spacecraft maneuverability.

Although HTS technology has already shown remarkable potential for space operations, the ongoing collaboration between the two companies aims to fine-tune superconductors for even more challenging conditions. By refining the temperature and magnetic field ranges specific to space environments, the initiative seeks to push the boundaries of efficiency, performance, and energy consumption in space applications.

Sebastian Wieczorek, co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Zenno Astronautics, expressed his excitement about the partnership’s potential. "The Mirai superconducting tape could significantly enhance the Supertorquer’s performance, delivering faster response times and a stronger magnetic dipole, all within the same compact, efficient design. This will dramatically improve spacecraft maneuverability in orbit."

Sergey Samoilenkov, Director of Strategy at Faraday Factory, highlighted the importance of collaboration between the two companies. "By leveraging advanced materials science, we aim to significantly boost the performance of HTS devices. This partnership with Zenno Astronautics will be a game-changer, as we work together to produce tangible results for the space sector."

This collaboration underscores the increasing demand for highly specialized materials in the aerospace industry, where weight reduction, energy efficiency, and operational reliability are critical. As space missions become more complex and ambitious, innovations like these could set the stage for a new era in space exploration.

With their combined expertise and forward-thinking approach, Faraday Factory and Zenno Astronautics are positioning themselves at the forefront of a technological leap that could reshape how spacecraft operate in orbit, making space travel more efficient, maneuverable, and sustainable.
