Google has unveiled a powerful new addition to its Gemini AI chatbot—automatic presentation creation—while officially retiring its long-standing Google Assistant. This dual announcement marks a defining moment in Google’s transformation into an AI-first company.
The new Gemini Canvas feature allows users to generate full presentations within seconds. By simply uploading a document or research paper and adding a brief prompt, such as “Create an educational presentation on climate change,” Gemini instantly analyzes key ideas and produces a themed slide deck complete with relevant visuals.
Once generated, the slides can be exported directly to Google Slides, enabling real-time collaboration and customization. The feature, currently rolling out to Gemini Advanced (Pro) subscribers, will soon be available to all Google Workspace and personal account users.
According to Google, this innovation is designed to make work and study faster, smarter, and more creative. Students can convert class notes into polished slides, while professionals can quickly prepare product launch decks, sales reports, or case studies—all without starting from scratch.
Alongside this feature rollout, Google confirmed the complete phase-out of Google Assistant. The company has removed the “Digital assistants from Google” settings option, meaning users can no longer revert to the old assistant. From now on, Gemini will be the sole AI assistant across all supported devices.
Google’s move reflects a strategic shift toward a unified, multimodal AI system that handles text, voice, images, and video. Features once exclusive to Google Assistant—such as reminders, smart home control, voice search, and media playback—are now built directly into Gemini.

Upcoming updates will include Processing Animations, Expand/Collapse options for long messages, and a Jump to Bottom button for easier navigation. These refinements show Google’s focus on making AI interactions smoother and more visually engaging.
