New York, USA – November 29, 2025:
YouTube is experimenting with a new feature called ‘Your Custom Feed’ to improve user control over video recommendations. Many users have complained that the platform’s algorithm often misinterprets their viewing habits. For example, watching a few videos on a topic—such as Disney movies—may lead to the home page being filled with similar content, even if it was casual or temporary interest.
The new feature allows users to directly shape their recommendations. Positioned next to the traditional Home button, ‘Your Custom Feed’ enables users to enter keywords or instructions, guiding the type of videos displayed. For instance, typing “cook” would prioritize cooking videos, giving users more control over their experience rather than relying solely on automated algorithms.
Currently in the experimental stage, YouTube plans to expand the feature to all users soon. This update is part of a broader effort by YouTube to enhance user experience and promote responsible viewing habits, as seen in recent changes like daily limits for Shorts aimed at teenagers. By combining algorithmic suggestions with user-driven input, YouTube hopes to make the platform more personalized and relevant for every viewer.
