Ruggedized computing solutions leader Premio Inc. has unveiled its JCO Series of AI edge computers powered by NVIDIA's latest Jetson Orin line at the International Security Conference & Exposition (ISC West 2024).

This marks a significant development for Premio, showcasing their commitment to innovation and catering to the evolving landscape of edge AI computing.

The NVIDIA Jetson Orin family of system on modules (SOMs) boasts a powerful combination of ARM-based architecture and NVIDIA's CUDA core architecture. This translates to a compact yet powerful embedded system capable of consolidating CPU, GPU, memory, and power into a single module.

This integration makes NVIDIA Jetson modules ideal for edge AI workloads demanding real-time processing, efficient data telemetry, and versatile I/O configurations.

Premio's JCO Series capitalizes on these strengths by offering three scalable models – JCO-1000-ORN, JCO-3000-ORN, and JCO-6000-ORN – catering to a range of performance needs.

All models are housed in ruggedized enclosures, making them suitable for harsh environments encountered in industrial automation, security and surveillance applications, intelligent transportation systems, smart city deployments, and even agriculture.

“The JCO series represents a pivotal moment in our commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions for the next wave of edge AI computing,” said Dustin Seetoo, Director of Product Marketing at Premio. “With the power of NVIDIA's Jetson Orin, these AI edge computers are equipped to tackle the challenges of real-time AI processing and low-latency data telemetry at the rugged edge, setting new standards for power efficiency and performance."

A Closer Look at the JCO Series

JCO-6000-ORN (High-Performance): This flagship model boasts up to 275 TOPS (trillions of operations per second) of AI performance. It leverages the Jetson Orin AGX module and offers power configurations ranging from 15W to 60W. The JCO-6000-ORN is designed for demanding AI applications while maintaining a rugged, fanless design.

Additionally, it supports Premio's innovative EDGEBoost I/O technology, providing ultimate flexibility and modularity for I/O configurations, including dedicated locking USB ports, RJ45 LAN/POE, and 10 GbE RJ45.

JCO-3000-ORN (Mid-Level): This mid-range offering strikes a balance between performance and power efficiency, delivering up to 100 TOPS of AI performance. It utilizes either the Orin NX or Orin Nano module, making it suitable for edge applications with space constraints where a smaller form factor is desired.

The JCO-3000-ORN also features flexible I/O options in a lower TDP (thermal design power) compared to the JCO-6000-ORN.

JCO-1000-ORN (Entry-Level): The most compact model in the JCO Series, the JCO-1000-ORN harnesses the power of the Orin Nano module to deliver up to 40 TOPS of AI performance in a fanless and ruggedized design. This entry-level option is ideal for space-constrained applications requiring real-time AI compute with limited I/O needs.

Commitment to Ruggedization and Scalability

The JCO Series exemplifies Premio's dedication to both ruggedized computing solutions and fostering innovation in the realm of edge AI workloads. System integrators and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) now have access to a scalable and ruggedized NVIDIA Jetson-powered computing platform for implementing a wider range of edge AI applications.

Furthermore, the JCO Series adheres to stringent safety and reliability standards, with UL certification under UL 62368-1 Ed. 3, CE, and FCC compliance.

The availability of the JCO Series is staggered, with the JCO-6000-ORN and JCO-3000-ORN scheduled for release in Q2 2024, while the JCO-1000-ORN will follow in Q3 2024. This phased rollout allows potential users to align their deployment strategies with the most suitable model for their specific needs.

Premio's foray into ARM-based architecture with the JCO Series underscores their commitment to pushing the boundaries of computing technology. By combining their 35 years of expertise in ruggedized computing solutions with the power of NVIDIA Jetson Orin, Premio is well-positioned to empower the next generation of edge AI applications.
