Washington, USA — February 15, 2025:

AT&T announced on Friday that its Board of Directors has unanimously elected John Stankey as the new Chairman of the Board. Stankey succeeds William E. Kennard, who has been appointed as the Lead Independent Director.

Bill Kennard, the outgoing Chairman and new Lead Independent Director, stated, “As AT&T embarks on its comprehensive, Board-approved three-year strategic and capital allocation plan, this change provides the right governance structure for the Board. This will increase our governance agility and enhance our ability to seize opportunities to create long-term shareholder value while maintaining robust independent leadership of the Board.”

Stankey, who became AT&T’s President and CEO in 2020, has been with the company for many years and has been pivotal in its transformation and innovation, connecting millions of families, friends, and businesses to essential communication technologies like 5G wireless and multi-gig internet.

This leadership change marks a key step in AT&T's ongoing efforts to drive long-term growth and value for its stakeholders.
