Washington, DC, USA — February 15, 2025:

NASA is set to cover Firefly Aerospace's first robotic commercial moon landing on March 2, 2025, with the Blue Ghost lunar lander targeting a touchdown at approximately 3:45 a.m. EST. The mission is part of NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative and Artemis campaign, aiming to support long-term lunar exploration.

The Blue Ghost lander, launched on January 15 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, is en route to land near Mare Crisium, a lunar plain in the Moon’s northeast. Equipped with 10 NASA science investigations and technology demonstrations, Blue Ghost will offer insights into the lunar environment and test technologies crucial for future human missions to the Moon and Mars.

NASA and Firefly will jointly host live coverage starting at 2:30 a.m. EST on NASA+, with the broadcast also available on Firefly’s YouTube channel. The coverage will include live streaming and real-time updates as the lander descends to the surface.

Accredited media interested in attending the in-person landing event in Austin, Texas, can request credentials until February 24. Following the landing, a news conference will provide further details about the mission and its scientific goals.

The CLPS initiative is part of NASA’s efforts to collaborate with American companies on lunar exploration. The agency has awarded Firefly a $101.5 million contract to deliver critical scientific payloads to the Moon as part of its ongoing Artemis missions.
