PARIS, France — May 7, 2025:
LONGi, a global leader in solar technology, has joined forces with international energy giant ENGIE in a landmark partnership to roll out its latest Hi-MO 9 modules across utility-scale solar projects in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The collaboration is set to accelerate the shift toward high-efficiency, large-scale solar energy adoption.
Central to this partnership is LONGi’s Hi-MO 9 module, which features cutting-edge back contact (BC) technology. Boasting a maximum power output of 670W, a major efficiency rate of 24.8%, and bifaciality reaching up to 80%, the Hi-MO 9 represents a significant step forward in photovoltaic design. By relocating all cell electrodes to the rear of the module, the BC architecture eliminates front-side shading, improving light absorption and enhancing energy conversion even in demanding environmental conditions.
Dennis She, Vice President of LONGi, emphasized the significance of the deal: “ENGIE's selection of Hi-MO 9 is a testament to the global energy sector's recognition of BC technology as the ultimate frontier in solar innovation. This partnership sets a new benchmark for utility-scale solar deployments worldwide.”
François-Xavier Boul, ENGIE’s Managing Director for MENA Renewables & Batteries, echoed the sentiment: “Our collaboration with LONGi reflects ENGIE’s commitment to leading the global energy transition through innovation. This model will guide large-scale solar development across the MENA region and drive us closer to a carbon-neutral future.”
The Hi-MO 9’s design not only improves energy output but also optimizes land use—an essential factor for sustainable development. LONGi and ENGIE are committed to maintaining strict environmental protocols throughout each project phase, underlining their joint dedication to balancing innovation with ecological responsibility.
As the MENA region rapidly scales up solar investments, the LONGi-ENGIE partnership is poised to play a pivotal role in setting new industry standards for performance, reliability, and sustainability.
