Towson, Maryland, USA — June 25, 2025:

DEWALT, a Stanley Black & Decker brand and a leader in jobsite innovation, has strengthened its commitment to the skilled trades by partnering with SkillsUSA, the nation’s premier workforce development organization. As part of this collaboration, DEWALT is donating $100,000 in professional-grade tools to support the 2025 SkillsUSA Championships, which is being held this week in Atlanta, Georgia.

The donation aims to directly assist 6,800 career and technical education students competing in more than 100 skilled categories, including welding, carpentry, electrical systems, and plumbing. Following the event, DEWALT and SkillsUSA will work together to distribute the tools used in the competition to aspiring tradespeople across the United States.

James Oh, President and General Manager of DEWALT, emphasized the critical need for access to equipment: “More than one-third of pre-apprentices lack the tools necessary to pursue a career in the trades. Our goal is to eliminate that barrier and ensure every aspiring tradesperson has what they need to succeed. This partnership with SkillsUSA helps make that vision a reality.”

Chelle Travis, Executive Director of SkillsUSA, expressed gratitude for DEWALT’s support: “This generous contribution supports not just today’s competitors, but future professionals across the country. Together, we are investing in the skilled labor force of tomorrow.”

The initiative is part of DEWALT’s Grow the Trades, a $30 million pledge through 2027 to address the skilled labor shortage. To date, DEWALT has provided nearly $20 million in scholarships, grants, and equipment, significantly enhancing access to trades education.

DEWALT has partnered with SkillsUSA since 1999, contributing more than $1.7 million to support tools, training, and events that cultivate the next generation of job-ready professionals. SkillsUSA itself represents over 444,000 students and educators nationwide across 130 high-demand occupations ranging from 3D animation to welding.

With this latest investment, DEWALT and SkillsUSA reaffirm their shared commitment to narrowing the skilled trades gap, elevating technical education, and empowering young Americans to build prosperous careers through hands-on learning and workforce training.
