Shanghai, China – June 29, 2025:
Huawei has announced a significant milestone in the advancement of next-generation connectivity, revealing that over 10 million users in China are now on 5G Advanced (5G-A) networks. The announcement was made during the company’s presentation at MWC Shanghai 2025, held under the theme "Accelerating the Intelligent World." The summit served as a platform for Huawei to engage global telecom operators and industry leaders in discussions on how artificial intelligence and 5G-A technologies are transforming the telecommunications landscape.
China’s 5G-A footprint has expanded rapidly, with commercial services now available in over 300 cities and more than 30 provinces. Huawei highlighted its collaborative projects with the country’s three largest network operators to monetize enhanced 5G experiences and integrate AI agents into scenario-based services, marking a new phase of intelligent service delivery under the concept of "AItoX."
Huawei’s latest infrastructure developments include the launch of its AI Ultra-Broadband (AI UBB) solution. This comprehensive platform spans all layers of the network—from home broadband to transport networks—and delivers end-to-end computing integration with performance enhancements. The aim is to accelerate network autonomy and enrich the user experience in AI-powered environments.
The company also emphasized operational success through its partnerships with Chinese network operators, showcasing intelligent wireless and residential broadband deployments. These initiatives represent Huawei’s strategy to reshape telecommunications by embedding AI into the core of network operations, enabling operators to drive business growth through smarter, more agile services.
In his keynote address, Eric Xu, Huawei’s Deputy Chairman and Rotating Chairman, provided a strategic outlook for the global telecom industry. He acknowledged the sector’s shift from rapid expansion to a phase of stable development and emphasized that the next wave of growth would come from adapting to evolving user demands, expanding high-definition video delivery, integrating 5G into intelligent connected vehicles, and utilizing Fiber to the Room (FTTR) technology to empower small businesses with AI-driven capabilities. Xu underscored that growth strategies must be tailored to each operator’s unique market and environment, reaffirming Huawei’s commitment to supporting its partners on their individual paths to sustainable development.
Huawei also addressed the growing impact of AI across the digital ecosystem. Telecommunications providers are increasingly repositioning themselves as creators of personalized AI agents, using AI to transform homes, vehicles, and enterprise services. In smart home environments, network operators are enabling seamless coordination among devices to improve user experience. In the automotive sector, AI integration with vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technologies is creating intelligent “third spaces” inside vehicles. For businesses, AI is being leveraged to streamline operations through advanced computing and model-based services.
With commercial 5G-A deployments expected to expand further across China, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region in 2025, Huawei’s demonstration at MWC Shanghai reflects a clear vision: to lead the convergence of 5G-A and artificial intelligence in driving the next era of global digital innovation.
