Taipei, Taiwan — July 8, 2025:
Advantech has officially launched a new generation of edge AI computing solutions powered by the Snapdragon X Elite platform, setting a new benchmark in industrial performance, energy efficiency, and connectivity. The newly introduced models—AOM-6731, AIMB-293, and SOM-6820—are tailored for high-demand edge applications, combining cutting-edge AI acceleration, low power consumption, and high-speed wireless communication technologies.
Built on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite 12-core and Snapdragon X Plus 10-core processors, both equipped with Qualcomm Oryon CPUs running at up to 3.4GHz, these platforms outperform traditional x86-based systems. According to Advantech, these devices deliver a 28% reduction in power consumption for common tasks like video conferencing, local playback, and productivity applications, while maintaining exceptional responsiveness and multitasking capability.
A key innovation is the integration of the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, which delivers up to 45 TOPS (trillions of operations per second), allowing for powerful AI inference at the edge—critical for real-time decision-making in industrial environments.
Memory and storage capabilities have also been significantly enhanced. With LPDDR5X RAM, the systems achieve data rates of up to 8,533 MT/s, a 30% speed increase over LPDDR5, while consuming 20% less energy. Storage is boosted by UFS 3.1 Gear 4, delivering read/write speeds of up to 16,000 Mbps, with optional UFS 4.0 available for durability and shock resilience in rugged environments.
Designed for graphics-intensive and multimedia applications, the new platforms feature the Snapdragon Adreno 5th Gen VPU, supporting 4K60p H.264 video encoding and decoding. The integrated Adreno GPU also supports OpenCL, OpenGL, and DirectX 12, ensuring high-performance visual processing for tasks such as machine vision, surveillance, and remote monitoring.
Connectivity has been brought to the forefront with integrated Wi-Fi 7 and 5G technologies, offering ultra-fast, low-latency wireless performance. Wi-Fi 7 brings multi-gigabit throughput and enhanced reliability, while 5G ensures expansive, high-speed mobile connectivity—both essential for real-time, data-heavy AI operations at the edge.
Advantech says the new edge AI solutions are aimed at industries looking to accelerate digital transformation through intelligent infrastructure. With their blend of AI capability, connectivity, and efficiency, these platforms position Advantech as a key player in the global shift toward smarter industrial ecosystems.
