Arnold & Itkin LLP has filed a lawsuit against Chevron Corporation and Chevron U.S.A. Inc. on behalf of five workers severely injured in a devastating explosion at Chevron’s Pascagoula Refinery on July 14, 2025. The suit, which was filed in Harris County District Court, alleges that Chevron's negligence and gross negligence directly caused the explosion and resulting injuries, leading to substantial harm for the plaintiffs.
According to the lawsuit, Chevron authorized hot work in an area where flammable gases were present, injecting those gases into a confined space where workers were ordered to operate. The ignition of these gases resulted in a massive fire and explosion that left the plaintiffs with severe burns, permanent physical and psychological injuries, and long-term impairments that have prevented them from returning to their work.
The plaintiffs are seeking compensation for a range of damages, including medical expenses, lost wages, physical impairment, emotional trauma, and other losses. Additionally, the lawsuit seeks exemplary damages, accusing Chevron of gross negligence and conscious disregard for worker safety despite the significant risks involved.
