In a historic milestone for global smart technology, China officially launched the world’s first full-link smart home ecosystem during the Global Smart Ecosystem Summit (GSES) in Guangzhou on July 8. Spearheaded by Heungkong Group and Tantron Group (TTG), the summit marked China’s emergence as a leader in next-generation smart living by unveiling a universally interoperable platform that integrates global tech protocols, artificial intelligence, and cross-brand collaboration.
The summit revealed a sweeping transformation in smart home innovation through the introduction of an ecosystem that allows real-time synchronization across brands and protocols. With the unveiling of TTG’s Universal Gateway Technology, long-standing barriers in smart home compatibility have finally been broken. The system integrates major global standards, including Matter, PLC, and Zigbee, allowing devices from different manufacturers to operate harmoniously. TTG founder Yao Minghai described the technology as a “polyglot translator,” capable of unifying devices that previously “spoke different languages.”
Tan Jianrong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering characterized the launch as a shift of the same magnitude as the move from feature phones to smartphones—marking a leap from isolated device intelligence to unified, AI-enhanced ecosystem intelligence. At the heart of this transformation is the Heungkong No.1 demonstration project, which establishes a new global benchmark by enabling scenario-based cross-brand integration, offering a full-lifecycle smart service model, and embedding deep AI learning capabilities into everyday living environments.
Heungkong Group Chairwoman Mei Hing Chak emphasized that the breakthrough combines German precision, Swiss craftsmanship, and Chinese innovation to redefine modern homes. German appliance giant Gaggenau’s executive Xu Xiaojian announced the company’s first integration of the Matter protocol alongside the Heungkong No.1 system, while Switzerland’s V-ZUG initiated its first weekly technical collaborations with Chinese partners. Japanese brand Panasonic and Nordic firm ASKO also confirmed full participation, with ASKO describing the project as a merger of Nordic engineering with next-gen Chinese platform architecture.
The summit also introduced the Global Smart Ecosystem Initiative, a consensus-driven framework co-signed by over 20 major global tech brands. The agreement establishes ten shared principles focusing on ethical artificial intelligence, user privacy, environmental sustainability, and secure interoperability. Professor Jin Sheng, a globally recognized voice on AI ethics, praised the framework for its emphasis on transparency, controllability, and explainability, calling it essential to the responsible advancement of smart technology.
Former Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme, serving as honorary dean of the Heungkong No.1 Future Life Art Institute, endorsed the initiative’s global potential. In a virtual keynote, former Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović praised the development as a moment where technological power meets human wisdom. She stated that Heungkong No.1 represents not just market evolution, but a leap in civilization—demonstrating that smart technology must ultimately serve people, ethics, and society.
With this summit, China has not only introduced a groundbreaking smart home solution but also cemented its role as a global standard-setter in AI-powered living. The world’s first interoperable, cross-protocol smart home ecosystem is no longer a concept but a working reality, launched in Guangzhou and built on the foundations of global cooperation, ethical design, and technological leadership.
