Dhaka, Bangladesh – July 5, 2025:
Instagram has introduced a user-centric feature that allows individuals to hide the number of likes and share counts on their posts, aiming to reduce social pressure and improve digital well-being. With millions sharing content daily, from photos and videos to reels, public engagement numbers often lead to unnecessary stress or comparison. This feature is especially beneficial for users who feel anxious or embarrassed by low engagement on their posts.
To enable the feature, users need to open the Instagram app on their smartphones and log into their account. From there, tapping the profile icon in the bottom-right corner takes them to their profile page. Next, by selecting the three horizontal lines at the top-right corner, they can access the menu. Within the "What You See" section of the settings menu, users will find the "Like and Share Counts" option. Tapping this reveals a toggle switch next to "Hide Like and Share Counts." When the toggle turns black, the feature is activated.
Once enabled, others will no longer see how many likes or shares a user’s post has received, although the account owner can still view this information privately. The update is part of Instagram’s broader effort to foster a healthier digital environment, prioritizing authentic interaction over popularity metrics.
In a social media landscape driven by numbers, this move empowers users to take control of their experience, focus on creativity, and escape the anxiety tied to online validation. Whether you're an influencer, a content creator, or just someone who enjoys sharing moments, Instagram's like-hiding feature offers a more mindful way to engage with your digital community.
