TEMPE, Arizona, US — August 2, 2025:
Norton, a leading name in Cyber Safety and part of global digital security company Gen, has launched AI-powered deepfake detection for mobile users through its Genie AI Assistant, now available in early access on Norton 360 mobile apps for Android and iOS.
This new feature equips everyday users with the ability to detect and respond to manipulated audio and video content, helping protect against increasingly sophisticated AI-generated scams. Initially limited to Microsoft Copilot+ PCs, Norton’s deepfake protection now reaches mobile users in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, broadening access to critical AI defense tools.
The Genie AI Assistant analyzes content—such as YouTube video links—for indicators of manipulation. It detects synthetic voices and visual inconsistencies in faces and body movements, often telltale signs of deepfakes. When threats are found, the assistant provides conversational guidance, helping users navigate the risk and take action.
“The line between real and fake is increasingly blurred by AI-generated voices and faces,” said Leena Elias, Chief Product Officer at Gen. “By bringing deepfake protection to mobile, we’re empowering people to engage with digital content more confidently—even without advanced AI hardware.”
The feature currently supports English-language YouTube videos, with expansion to more platforms and languages expected in future updates. Norton has also confirmed plans to roll out support for desktop users and extend advanced capabilities to Intel-based AI PCs later this year.
Beyond detection, the tool aligns with Norton’s broader mission of protecting digital identities, privacy, and safety. As part of Gen’s family of trusted brands, Norton continues to lead in AI-integrated cybersecurity, backed by certifications from top independent labs like AV-TEST and SE Labs.
This move positions Norton at the forefront of consumer-grade AI protection, as deepfakes grow more common in online fraud, identity theft, and misinformation. With Genie AI on mobile, users now have a proactive way to scrutinize digital content—no AI PC required.
