BYD launches Bangladesh’s first cross-country endurance drive with the Sealion 6, testing its 1,866 km real-world range and setting new standards for plug-in hybrid vehicles.

In a groundbreaking effort to showcase the capabilities of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in South Asia, BYD, the world’s leading NEV manufacturer, has launched Bangladesh’s first-ever cross-country endurance drive featuring its state-of-the-art plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), the BYD Sealion 6.
The ambitious journey began on September 4, 2025, in Dhaka, with the objective of pushing the limits of the Sealion 6's estimated 1,100 km range in real-world conditions. Over the course of five days, the vehicle will cover a challenging route of 1,866.4 km, passing through cities and regions like Banglabandha Zero Point, Tetulia, Cox’s Bazar, Teknaf, and Chattogram, before returning to Dhaka.
The convoy includes BYD Bangladesh officials Imtiaz Nawsher, Shahnuma Sharmin, and Rezwan Rahman, and is joined by popular automotive influencers Shahriar Parvez (The SPTV) and Mustavi Irtiza Bashar (Cars & Conversation).
The first leg took the team from Dhaka to Banglabandha Zero Point, a 464.7 km stretch, marking a significant milestone in the campaign. The route tests the vehicle’s efficiency across varying terrains — from highways to coastal and border areas — providing an authentic test of hybrid endurance.
Speaking about the initiative, Shahnuma Sharmin, Lead of Strategy & Digital at BYD Bangladesh, stated: “This campaign goes beyond being just a simple drive; it’s a true reflection of the remarkable endurance and efficiency of the BYD Sealion 6. Our goal is to set a new benchmark for PHEV performance in the region, proving that sustainable long-distance driving is no longer a dream — it’s a reality.”
The Sealion 6, BYD’s newest plug-in hybrid SUV, brings together extended range, high performance, and environmental sustainability — positioning it as a strong contender for both urban commuting and long-distance travel in Asia.
