Munich, Germany — September 9, 2025:

Hyundai Motor Company marked its return to IAA Mobility after a four-year absence with the global unveiling of Concept THREE, the very first compact electric vehicle concept under the IONIQ sub-brand. Unveiled in Munich, the model signals Hyundai’s strategic expansion into the B‑segment EV category, a critical market for urban Europe.

The concept introduces a bold interpretation of Hyundai’s Art of Steel design language, featuring sculptural surfaces, clean intersections, and flowing volumes that strike a balance between strength and elegance. The vehicle’s silhouette—branded as the Aero Hatch—blends aerodynamic efficiency with the functionality of a vertical tailgate, showcasing a sleek profile meant for city landscapes.

“Designing Concept THREE gave us the chance to rethink the compact EV from the ground up,” said Simon Loasby, Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center. “The Aero Hatch silhouette captures fluidity and transforms it into a beautifully proportioned sculpture.” Manuel Schoettle, exterior designer, added: “Treating steel in such an authentic way made the Concept THREE feel extremely pure—hopefully, it will bring a smile to your face.”

Hyundai also used the launch to reaffirm its European electrification roadmap. The company aims to deliver an electrified version of every model sold in Europe by 2027 and roll out 21 global EV models by 2030, while also investing in hydrogen fuel-cell development and sustainable manufacturing practices tailored to the continent’s environmental mandates.

Further accentuating its presence at the event, Hyundai showcased the Concept THREE alongside its full European EV portfolio at a striking Parametric Pixel–inspired booth in Munich’s Open Space. The exhibit offered interactive design installations and access to test drives across nine electrified Hyundai models, from compact cars to large SUVs.

Hyundai’s unveiling of Concept THREE stands as both a design milestone and a strategic pivot—ushering in a future where emotional connectivity, compact practicality, and sustainable innovation converge.
