Camden, N.J., USA — June 3, 2025:
Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) today reported sales of 52,292 vehicles for May 2025, reflecting a 10.4% decrease from May 2024’s total of 58,356. Despite the monthly dip, SOA achieved year-to-date sales of 275,260 units, a 3% increase over the same period last year.
Leading the month's performance was the Subaru Crosstrek, which posted its best May ever with 15,793 units sold, marking a 14.1% increase year-over-year. The Forester followed closely with 15,434 units sold, continuing its strong appeal among younger drivers. The Outback recorded 11,214 units sold, while the BRZ, Impreza, and Legacy all showed positive growth compared to May 2024.
Jeff Walters, President and COO of Subaru of America, credited customer loyalty and brand values for the company’s resilience:
"Subaru retailers made May a best-ever sales month for Crosstrek and delivered another strong month for Forester. We know customers value our commitment to safety and reliability. Being named the No. 1 automotive brand on Forbes' Best Brands for Social Impact list for the third consecutive year further reflects our efforts to be More Than a Car Company."
Troy Poston, Senior Vice President of Sales, emphasized the critical role of Subaru’s retailer network:
"Our hardworking retailers are the backbone of our brand, especially as we manage limited inventory on high-demand models like the Forester. Their dedication—from educating new owners to supporting community programs—makes a lasting difference."
While May brought a year-over-year sales decline, Subaru’s continued strength in core models and customer trust positions the brand for long-term growth in 2025.
