Ankara, Turkiye — May 12, 2025:
Turkiye has unveiled a sweeping new national roadmap under the banner of the “2030 Industry and Technology Strategy,” aimed at transforming the country into a global hub for high-tech production, digital innovation, and green industry. The strategy, approved by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and published in the Official Gazette on Saturday, outlines a long-term vision for economic modernization, self-reliance, and leadership in critical technologies.
The strategy emerges at a time of shifting global dynamics, where protectionist trade policies are replacing open-market liberalism, and states are prioritizing strategic autonomy over foreign dependency. Turkiye’s plan positions itself within this context, emphasizing the need to enhance industrial and technological infrastructure to build national resilience and competitiveness.
Grounded in the goals of the National Technology Initiative, the new industrial vision seeks to fortify Turkiye’s domestic production capabilities, assert independence in strategic sectors, and expand the nation’s footprint in high value-added exports. The strategy highlights the importance of creating an innovation-driven, digitally integrated, and environmentally sustainable industrial ecosystem that reflects both local strengths and international trends.
The government has structured the strategy in alignment with its 12th Development Plan (2024–2028), the annual Presidential Program, and current global transformations. It presents an integrated policy approach designed to adapt to the new industrial age while maximizing Turkiye’s geopolitical and economic potential.
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır commented on the new direction via a statement on X, declaring that Turkiye will implement rapid and decisive structural reforms to capitalize on opportunities in an increasingly competitive global landscape. He emphasized the urgency of converting global challenges into strategic advantages amid ongoing trade and technology rivalries.
The 2030 vision includes the execution of 100 clearly defined strategies supported by 20 macro-level objectives, aimed at catalyzing major reforms across the industrial sector. These include plans to accelerate digital transformation, integrate Turkiye into global tech supply chains, pursue carbon neutrality through green technology, and attract greater investment in high-tech sectors such as artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and clean energy.
Prepared in collaboration with public institutions, the private sector, academia, and civil society organizations, the strategy reflects a shared commitment to reshaping Turkiye’s economic future. Officials underscore the inclusive nature of its formation as essential to ensuring broad-based support and long-term sustainability.
Turkiye’s 2030 Industry and Technology Strategy sets an assertive tone for the decade ahead, declaring the country's ambition not just to keep pace with global technological change but to lead it. With its comprehensive vision and unified national push, Turkiye signals its readiness to become a cornerstone of the global innovation economy.
